Theodore Ahamefule Orji, Abia State Governor-Elect will stay in jail until May 18th when ruling in his bail application will be heard by the Federal High Court. Ahamefule and four others, Ude Jones-Ogu, Moses Ago, Samuel E#keh-Iheke, Nnana Uzor and Slok Nigeria Limited were all arraigned on March 7th of this year before the court on a 100-count charges of criminal offences, including money laundering of about five billion naira.

Next Tuesday has been scheduled by the Supreme Court to hear the case of former Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Amaehi who is asking the Supreme Court "to compel the Appeal Court to declare him as the winner of PDP governorship primaries in the state." Clement Omehia was declared the winner in the April 14 polls.

Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) militants in the oil-rich region have striked again. Overall, 20 foreign workers have been kidnapped in three separate incidents, including an Australian. Sources reaching Ehirim Files also said the hostages includes a Briton, two Croatians, a Romanian, a Chilean and two Poles. In the second attack at the Daewoo Engineering & Construction site at Afam, Nigeria, the gunmen kidnapped eight Filipinos, three South Koreans and a Nigerian at 2 A:M local time. In the third attack, "a Dutch unemployed oil worker was kidnapped from a bar in Warri where he was watching a football game."

Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of This Day Newspapers has denied "allegations that he collected N3 billion Naira from the Nigeria Government to help tilt media reports in favor of President-Elect, Musa Yar'Adua."
