Jean Paul Gaultier's Paris Couture show boasted both haute fashion and a legend returning to form. The very French Ines de la Fressange, a former fashion muse who became the first model to sign an exclusive modeling contract (with the house of Chanel) suprised everyone by closing the show in a figure-skimming black gown and ivory tuxedo jacket. The 51-year-old catwalk queen strutted to the audience's delight, including JPG fans Kanye West and Kylie Minogue. Gaultier was so enthralled that he "chased the former supermodel down the runway and practically wrestled her to the ground during the final moments of the show, catching her just before she fell."
Fashion models “are not just 14-year-olds,” Gaultier said. “There are no [age] barriers to beauty.” JPG went on to explain that Ms. de la Fressange embodied the sexuality demanded by his "raunchy Spanish themed show, which also featured high-waisted pinstripe pants for women, suspenders and elbow-length gloves."
So is De la Fressange staging a comeback? Not exactly. She admits she has moved on from modeling and was nervous backstage "surrounded by all those sexy little things."
