Sneak Peek! J.Crew's Fall 2009 Collection

Since narrowly escaping bankruptcy due to Michelle Obama's well-publicized affinity for the brand, J.Crew is certainly taking the Oba-momentum and running with it! The classically preppy sportswear line's Fall pieces are an opulent collection of ruffled tops, slim cardigans, textured skirts, lean jackets and wool blazers in warm Autumn tones of pumpkin, gold, navy, gray and olive. And the accessories! Skinny belts cinch the lush layers topped with statement jewels and scarves. Take a close look: adding just one or two key pieces will inject the chic into any wardrobe effortlessly. Yup, J.Crew will be seeing a lot of me this Fall.

Trend Watch: Think Chain Link

Do you remember when Janet Jackson danced along mountains with a nose ring linked to her belly button ring? And who hasn't coveted the classic Chanel handbag hung from the shoulder with a chain link and leather strap? Well, this season, chain link accessories are everywhere! Recently, Amber Rose (who is clearly styled by Kanye) was shot in Chanel chain link sunglasses...

...the ever style-savvy Rihanna wore lobe-to-lobe chain link earrings and Beyonce caused a firestorm with her Bless chain link sunglasses in the video for "Diva." In other words, the chain link trend is on! There are so many great ways to wear it. I, myself, have a chain link necklace from Forever 21 that dresses up any outfit. Earrings, bracelets, purses and shoes are some fabulous ways to stay on trend without overdoing it.

Vanessa Simmons and Solange both know that long chain strap purses are perfect for a night on the town.

Splurge Alert: Chanel Sunglasses $390

Chain belts have been over for a little while now but they could definitely manage their way back, so wear one anyway and stay ahead of the trend! BUT, a huge no-no is wearing those punk rocker chains that hang from your jeans...maybe later, but definitely not now.

Go on now, break out the chains, have some fun and don't let them hold you back!

2009 Met Gala Trend Watch: Bare Legs and Booties!

Monday night's Costume Institute Gala at the Met, the yearly event that never fails to bring out fashion's elite and Hollywood's glitterati, was a salute to supermodels hosted by Kate Moss (in a faaabulous metallic turban by Stephen Jones) and designer Marc Jacobs. It's fitting then that many of the models in attendance signaled a serious trend in cocktail wear: short dress, bare legs, and ankle-high booties!

Daria Werbowy in Balmain

Gisele Bundchen in Versace

Raquel Zimmermann in Proenza Schouler

Liya Kebede in Derek Lam

Alexander Wang and Lara Stone in his design

Hilary Rhoda in Thakoon

Bradley Cooper and Caroline Winberg in Emilio Pucci

Arlenis Sosa Pena in Alberta Ferretti

Who says you have to pair a short and sparkly with strappy, delicate sandals? Instead, try this rockin' trend for yourself!

Check out the rest of the red carpet, here.
