Fab Fall Booties!

YSL Caged Booties
$1,130

Did you go gaga for the sinfully strappy Yves Saint Laurent Caged Booties on the YSL Spring 2009 runway? If so, we've got something in common! And lucky for us, the knockoffs have hit the market.

$59.99

Infinitely more wearable than the original and for a tenth of the price? These Bakers heels are a no-brainer.

I just scooped up a similar pair (but with a thinner, higher heel) by Michael Antonio through my Shoe Dazzle subscription. Perfect paired with everything from black skinnies to a belted floral dress, I can't stop wearing them! Go on, give your Fall wardrobe some serious edge.

Breeding for Bags?

Someone get PETA on the horn! French luxury brand, Hermès, maker of such handbag classics as the Birkin and the Kelly, has begun breeding its own crocodiles to keep up with what the label calls "massive over-demand" for handbags. Even in this economic downturn, leather bags continue to be the label's fastest-growing product line. Since it can take three to four crocodiles to make one handbag (WOW), the brand is finding it uber-difficult to make the required 3,000 bags a year. Customers must sometimes be wait-listed for years before snapping up bags made from exotic skins, costing upwards of $48,410 apiece!

Hmmm. As beautiful as these bags are, there is something unseemly about the prospect of farming crocs for the sole purpose of creating luxury goods. Food is one thing, but for fashion? This has made me rethink my love affair with fur! (But you will still need to pry it from my cold, dead hands before I give that up).

What say you?

P.S. Want a Hermes bag without the guilt? Check out this fun DIY project on the Hermes corporate Website. Download, cut and paste your own paper Kelly bag! A perfectly chic way to dress up any mantle, desk or vanity.

Now Wear This! Lisa F. Pliner Shoes

The Indira

Lisa F. Pliner, former member of Versace's creative team and wife of shoe designer, Donald J. Pliner, is launching a namesake collection for Fall 2009. Acting as the Creative Director and muse of Donald J. Pliner (or DJP as I like to call him) for more than 10 years, Lisa is more ready than ever to branch out on her own.

While DJP's are known for their comfort, Lisa's line has the same benefits but with a sexed-up vibe. Featuring sky-high platforms, innovative straps, and supple materials like Haircalf, Lizard, Suede and butter soft Nappa leather, comfort has never looked so good. You can pick up a pair at specialty boutiques and Donald J. Pliner stores.

Furry, Feathery and Fringed Steals of the Week

Fur Scarf $59.50

One of my favorite things about Fall and Winter is pulling out all of my fur and faux fur coats, wraps and accessories and adding them into the mix. Besides keeping you warm and toasty against a wintry chill, fur pieces add so much instant drama and can really glam up a girl's life! This fur wrap, spotted at TheLimited.com, can be belted, draped or flung dramatically over your shoulder, worn with black, brown or tan, and goes with everything from a dress to jeans! It will effortlessly take you through two seasons of glamour. Never be afraid to be a showstopper!

ASOS Feather Clutch $39.67

And while we're on the subject of showstoppers, check out this darling and dazzling lil feathered clutch by ASOS. A knockoff of the one worn by Carrie in the Sex and the City movie, this oh so boho-bag has a high-end look for a low-end price...grab it while you can!

Tasha Fringe Hobo $19.99

And finally, fringe is definitely my favorite adornment of the moment. This hobo bag by Delia's comes in a lush purple suede and has all the makings of a go-to bag that adds a dash of fun to your Fall. Fringe also provides movement and a definite bohemian-vibe to your wardrobe, and the price is a steal!

Fab Find of the Week

Chanel Chaine Sunglasses $530

As per usual, I was flipping through the latest Life and Style, not particularly interested in Angelina's possible post-partum problems, when I came across some sunglasses to live and die for. Normally, I would not even tantalize you with such a desirable piece when it costs $530. However, Chanel's Chaine shades, oversized aviators made of metal, plastic and lambskin accented with Chanel's trademark chain are such a tongue-wagging find that it was impossible not to. They've already been seen perched on the niptucked noses of Madonna, Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan.

Unfortunately, they don't have any inexpensive alternatives floating around, so for now, college divas like me will have to put their faith in H&M and Forever 21! Soon please!

Ask Elle

Dear Elle,

Maybe you can help me, I'm looking desperate for these glasses [seen on Drew Barrymore in Music and Lyrics] for my sister's birthday. She is crazy about them, but I dont know which brand they are. Could you help me?

best regards, theodora

Theodora darling,

Thanks so much for your question. I immediately thought of my blogger friend, Sunglasses Guy of Everything Sunglasses, who excels at questions such as these. Here's his response...

Hi Elle,

Thanks for getting ahold of me. I like these kind of questions.
asdfsa
That model is called Pandora and it is by Oliver Peoples. They are a top end eyewear maker who started and became famous in the late 80's with some retro styles. It will be tough for your reader to find this model, as it is last years', and they don't hold on to their old inventory. You can't even find it on the webpage anymore. There might be some online sites which still have it stocked, but it won't necessarily be the right color. Sometimes they use special models just for the movies (in this case Music and Lyrics).
asdf
The best bet would be to surf around the internet, or go to one of their actual shops and see what they say.

Hope that helps,
Sunglasses Guy

Thanks cupcake! Sorry Theodora, that we couldn't be of more assistance.

P.S. SeenOn.com is a great site for searching for items you've seen on the big screen and have to have for yourself...check it out!

Now Wear This! Ethnic Handbags

Bright and bold ethnic prints are so on trend, but are admittedly a little hard to pull off. Good thing you don't have to commit to an entire African-inspired outfit to take part in the boho-chicness. By adding ikat, geometric, embroidered, beaded, wooden, raffia or woven-effect accessories to your look, you can create just the textural contrast that signals the tribal trend. Take a gander at some handbags, like the one above, that are perfect for Summer 2008. After all, it's a jungle out there.

Ikat Print Clutch $38

Who knew tribal could be oh so feminine?

Etro Embroidered bag £875
This is like the luxurious version of a bag you could pick up at a South American market.
The ubiquitous Spy Bag gets the tribal treatment.

Baker's Jamie Bag $39.95
A beautifully woven bag that could pass for bamboo.

Tribal Clutch Purse $22.80

Make a statement with a bold and beautiful ikat print.

Ivory Coast Printed Oversized Bag £20.00

Not your average canvas bag, this geometric shopper will make waves.

Melie Bianco Bohemian Hobo $49.99

As seen on Nicole Ritchie, this eye-popping hobo comes in an amazing number of colors.
