Fashion Recap: 2008 MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards popped off last night at Universal Studios in La La Land, and the celebs were out to sashay the gold carpet in style. Let the judgment commence! First, I thought Paris looked quite fetch. The hair, the makeup and the dress are old school glam but at the same time, just bubblegum enough to be quintessential Paris.

Perfection! Love the turtleneck mini with daring white ankle boots. Puh-leeze tell me that you all went to see SATC this weekend! In a word...amaaazing. I laughed, I cried, I drooled over all the delicious fashion...definitely a must see.

Our favorite fug kept it simple in an LBD. A little sun wouldn't hurt but she's looking good with the longer hair!

Ew. I'm just not into LL. There's just something so...vulgar about her. Sorry boo.

Megan Fox's gorgeousness was almost enough to distract me from the fact that her dress, clutch and shoes are all working against each other. What's up with that?

I think LC's dress is my favorite. It hugs her curves and shows just enough skin.

Looks like Audrina "Dead Eyes" Patridge is trying out bangs. Good for her.

Heidi is perfecting her porn star look in a Herve Leger bandage dress.

This dress is not the most flattering on Whitney, from this angle she looks majorly boxy.

Anne Hathaway chose a super sophisticated one-shouldered dress that is oh so diva-esque.

Love her! Charlize is working the corset, pencil leg pants and gladiator heels like an Amazonian goddess.

I understand she's not a girly girl, but Ellen Page should take some style notes from Charlize re: wearing pants to an event.

I really like this look on Jennifer Hudson...very cute. And yes, that's her bra.

Controversial Danish artist Nadia Plesner is being sued by Louis Vuitton for copyright infringement as a result of her Simple Living campaign, which is meant to raise money and awareness around the genocide in Darfur. The campaign features a stirring image that really illustrates the nonsensical world we live in, where in the midst of the ongoing genocide of an entire nation of people, the mainstream media would rather provide Breaking News updates everytime Paris Hilton falls or farts.

I agree with Miss Brigette. Really, LV, your bags have already been (and will continue to be) knocked off left, right, up, down and center. Why not establish some goodwill by using those legal fees to make a donation to an organization that's helping Darfur?

Anyway, I'll be graduating high school this summer and it's tradition that girls wear a white ensemble however we may have a few hints of other colours, e.g. black. Thanks for your question! Your studenten, or high school graduation, will be a day and night of jubilant frivolity...champagne, gifts, laughing and singing to your hearts delight! What a perfect time to live out your rock-glam party girl fantasies. I love the fact that you are thinking seriously about your outfit (you're a girl after my own heart, sugarplum). After all, looking and feeling beautiful is the foundation for a fabulous graduation!

Let's start at the top, shall we? Like American graduation caps, Swedish graduates wear a traditional graduation hat, in the form of a much more stylish white sailor-type cap. The studentmössa, as it is called, is actually the perfect accessory for your glam rock look. Glam rock, by the way, is best exemplified by the designs of the Heatherette duo; they have this whole look down to a science.

For you, my love, the easiest way to go rocker-glam is to start with a flouncy tutu skirt. Tutus are huge for Fall 2008, so you'll be absolutely on trend wearing one.

Miss Rihanna has totally taken advantage of the ballet-inspired look. As a matter of fact, when you think of Rihanna's star style, how can you not think of a tutu skirt and a cinched waist? Here are just a few of the reasons why:







































You can easily duplicate this look in traditional white with black accents. Paris Hilton actually wore an over-the-top version of the look I'm envisioning for you to the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

However, if you are one of the lucky few that can climb mountains in their stillettos, I would wear booties (like both Paris and Alexa demonstrate above). Open-toed summer booties are super chic.

Both Audrina "Dead Eyes" Patridge and Paris Hilton have been spotted in this LaROK Studded Jersey Racer Back dress. Paris over-excessorized her navy version with a cardigan, brimmed hat and aviators, while Audrina kept it relatively simple in all black.
