Trend Watch: Round Sunglasses

The groundhog saw his shadow on February 2, which means there will only be six more weeks until Spring!!! OOOWWWWEEEEEE!!! (Sorry, I had to get Brooklyn real quick.) I love the Spring because that means open-toed shoes, shorts, and NO COATS! Most importantly, the sun comes out and that means SUNGLASSES! Of course, oversized shades will never go away, aviators are classic, and RayBans are a revived rave. However, the new hot shade shape is round!

A while back Nicole Richie and the Olsen girls surfaced the trend with the Chanel half tints but here are some looks for much cheaper!

Chanel Chaine Sunglasses $530

As per usual, I was flipping through the latest Life and Style, not particularly interested in Angelina's possible post-partum problems, when I came across some sunglasses to live and die for. Normally, I would not even tantalize you with such a desirable piece when it costs $530. However, Chanel's Chaine shades, oversized aviators made of metal, plastic and lambskin accented with Chanel's trademark chain are such a tongue-wagging find that it was impossible not to. They've already been seen perched on the niptucked noses of Madonna, Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan.

Unfortunately, they don't have any inexpensive alternatives floating around, so for now, college divas like me will have to put their faith in H&M and Forever 21! Soon please!

What's Really Hood?

The "Millionaire" Sunglasses of course! For all the ghetto millionaires out there who like to stunt, these sunglasses qualify as a "must-purchase-immediately."

Remember when Pharrell Williams and his design partner, Nigo collaborated on a sunglasses line for Louis Vuitton back in 2005? The most popular ones by far were the red Millionaire specs inspired by Scarface. Priced at $1000, they quickly sold out. Well, by popular demand, the stunners have been re-released in new ghetto-fab colors, including a bright teal, a kool-aid purple and your basic black. They now retail for approx $1,770, but someone is in the lab right now getting that $10 faux original version ready to debut on Canal Street.

So Totally 80's

Yes, people. Hate it or love it, 80's fashion is back. This trend is really picking up speed, most noticably in the urbanwear/hip hop market. Chris Brown went for a totally 80's look at the recent BET Awards, while Eve's video for "Tambourine," a multicolored mishmash of neon spandex, vivid makeup and ultra tight minis, is clearly channeling the excess that was 80's fashion.

In that same vein, Kanye West is right on target with these retro sunglasses from both his new video "Stronger" and his performance at Sunday's Concert for Diana. Kanye, whose Louis Vuitton collection would probably make KLS* drool, apparently went to famed glasses maker Alain Mikli with a photo of the style he was going for. The collaboration resulted in the above white plastic frames with no lenses, an unmistakable ode to the 80's.
