Blame it on Rio

You can blame it on Rio, blame it on the alcohol or blame it on the fiery chemistry between Madonna and the dashing and delicious newcomer, Jesus Lux, but the Material Girl's 46-page photoshoot for W Magazine's March issue is seriously, sickeningly sexy! Rocking her iconic "black eyebrow/platinum hair" look, Madonna has evidently gotten her sexy back and is feeling her newly single swag. I love the retro look and feel of the shoot, which is totally giving me "hungry cougar stalks her young but oh so ripe prey." Dayum!

Shot in Rio de Janeiro by Steven Klein, it marks Madonna's third collaboration with the photographer for W.

Be sure to check out the entire spread when the March issue hits newsstands!

Madonna for LV

Hi cupcakes and welcome to 2009! Here's to an even more eventful year of trend spotting, celebrity exclusives and fabulous parties...the best is yet to come! First up, the newly single Madonna is giving good crotch in her most recent shoot for Louis Vuitton, which takes place in the smoky setting of a French bistro. Is this not the same mess that that got Tyra all pissed at the hoochie-fied Sheena on ANTM? Well, when Madonna does it, it's called fierce. The six-photo series was shot by Steven Meisel, who also shot her infamous "Sex" book.

Here she is in that grass-inspired dress she wore on the red carpet back in November.

I seriously can't believe she's 50. These pics definitely have me ready to reup on my Bikram Yoga classes, stat!

What's Happening Here?

Eco-friendly fashion is bigger than ever, but recently, going green has officially gone to the next level. And when I say green, I mean that literally. Mischa Barton was spotted out and about in a skirt that appears to be inspired by moss...

...Madonna showed up at the UNICEF Gala in a grass-themed Louis Vuitton frock straight from the Spring 2009 runway...

...and Colbie Caillat worked the red carpet at last night's AMA's in a bright green dress made of actual fresh flowers.

Hmmm...is this a trend you would actually try? Or do these dresses remind you of a Project Runway challenge gone wrong?

Fab Find of the Week

Chanel Chaine Sunglasses $530

As per usual, I was flipping through the latest Life and Style, not particularly interested in Angelina's possible post-partum problems, when I came across some sunglasses to live and die for. Normally, I would not even tantalize you with such a desirable piece when it costs $530. However, Chanel's Chaine shades, oversized aviators made of metal, plastic and lambskin accented with Chanel's trademark chain are such a tongue-wagging find that it was impossible not to. They've already been seen perched on the niptucked noses of Madonna, Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan.

Unfortunately, they don't have any inexpensive alternatives floating around, so for now, college divas like me will have to put their faith in H&M and Forever 21! Soon please!

First Look! Madonna's Hard Candy Costumes

Wanna know all the deets about Madonna's wardrobe for her upcoming Sticky and Sweet Tour? A designer's dream I tell you! Check out the WWD article below and get in the know...

Most people are lucky to work with Madonna once. Costume designer Arianne Phillips has lasted 11 years, from the singer’s Pre-Raphaelite look for “Ray of Light” to the urban cowgirl of “Music” to the Patty Hearst look of “American Life” and on and on and on. In other words, measured in Madonna time, Phillips is roughly 77 years old.

Still, La Ciccone’s upcoming “Sticky and Sweet” tour has had its own unique challenges for her longtime stylist. “Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June,” says Phillips. “This time, the tour begins in August. It’s a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves.”

Thankfully, everyone is a bit of an exaggeration, as Phillips goes on to detail a mile-long list of willing collaborators and everything they’ve designed for the trek, which begins Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and comes to the United States in early October. Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits, while Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott. As in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections. The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. This, it would seem, is Madonna’s current take on her longest-running fashion inspiration — the dominatrix.

“It’s a theme that runs throughout her career” Phillips says. “She’s not afraid of being hard.” The second section has been termed “Old School,” and harkens back to Madonna’s early days in New York, with Scott’s outfit and some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. “He and Madonna were friends. If he were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?’” Afterward, there’s a gypsy section with more costumes from Givenchy. “Riccardo’s a new young talent. If you look at Madonna’s history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice.” Finally, there’s a futuristic rave section with lots of Japanese influences.

And while The New York Times complained recently about Madonna’s style choices, Phillips says getting older has had little effect on her sense of fashion adventure. “She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age.” As Phillips adds seconds later, “She looks good in everything.”

Were they giving out free Botox?

Madonna strikes a pose in taupe

Last night in the Big Apple, Mama Madonna hosted a star-studded fete sponsored by Gucci to benefit her charity, Raising Malawi, and UNICEF. Practically everybody is in town for Fashion Week, so there were a boatload of celebs that came out for a good cause. And I suppose when Madonna invites you somewhere, you accept. Let's take a look at just a few of the lucky celebs who scored an invite to her charity bash:

Katie Holmes stood out in sky-high heels and a red pencil dress.

Salma Hayek has her gorgeous figure back and wore the color of the moment, purple.

Rihanna made yet another fashionable appearance, this time in forest green Gucci.

J. Lo still knows how to serve it up on the red carpet, even though she's ready to pop.

Gwyneth went back to her good luck color, bubblegum pink (of course you remember her Oscar dress).

Alicia Keys went retro-glam in red with a waist-cinching belt.

Debbie Messing was happy in head to toe Gucci.

Drew opted for short and black with a splash of yellow.

Dita's pink and black frock was origami inspired.

"It" girl Amy Adams chose a regal royal blue.

Heidi was too cute in this bloussant mini with obligatory pockets.

Cassie was charmingly color-blocked with perfectly matched shoes.

Demi and Ashton = hot. That's all.

Gwen and Gavin make a dashing couple in black.
