What's Happening Here?

Eco-friendly fashion is bigger than ever, but recently, going green has officially gone to the next level. And when I say green, I mean that literally. Mischa Barton was spotted out and about in a skirt that appears to be inspired by moss...

...Madonna showed up at the UNICEF Gala in a grass-themed Louis Vuitton frock straight from the Spring 2009 runway...

...and Colbie Caillat worked the red carpet at last night's AMA's in a bright green dress made of actual fresh flowers.

Hmmm...is this a trend you would actually try? Or do these dresses remind you of a Project Runway challenge gone wrong?

Beauty Buzz: The Lush Life

asdf
Have you been living the Lush life? If so, you been experiencing the joy of all-natural and handmade bath, body and beauty products that work like a charm. Lush products are fruit and vegetable based and are made with minimal preservatives; many of the products are even vegan! They are also made in small batches by hand, so they stay super fresh. From shampoos to fragrance to skin creams, each product is for the girl who loves to be pampered. I'm personally a big fan of the fun and fizzy Bath Bombs, the decadent Angels on Bare Skin Face cleanser, and the spicy Volcano Foot Mask. Who knew I could go green without sacrificing my spa time?

Now onto Lush's newest creations: Emotibombs! These are like bath bombs made specifically for the shower. You simply place the little ball on the shower floor directly beneath the water flow, and a it will turn your bathroom into a fragrant steam room! Sex in the Shower releases a sensual hint of ginger; Too Drunk fills your nose with peppermint, marigold, fennel, and sweet orange to cure a hangover; Up the Wooden Hill will send you sweetly to bed using lavender, chamomile and neroli; and Up You Gets exudes the essences of lime, lemon, and grapefruit to perk you up in the morning.

Oooh la la Lush!

The Olympics Go Preppy

All my Sporty Spices on the U.S. Olympic team betta work the Olympic Village like its a runway at this summer's 2008 Beijing Olympic games. Classic American sportswear brand, Polo Ralph Lauren, has just been named the official outfitter for the U.S. team.

Polo replaced Canadian apparel company, Roots, which had outfitted the U.S. team for the last three Olympic Games. Bummer for them. Roots envisioned a "yoga-inspired, technical, green product" for the Beijing games. Clearly, the Olympic Committee was not pumped about it.

Finding inspiration in the 1981 film,"Chariots of Fire," which is about a group of British athletes competing in the 1924 Paris Olympics, the Olympic Committee decided to go with a more classic, formal look. Polo responded by designing V-neck sweaters, ties, cargo pants, Polo mesh shirts with "Beijing" written in Chinese splashed across the front and of course, plenty of garments with Polo ponies.

The new outfits will be unveiled at the Opening Ceremonies on August 8. Looking at the sneak peek above, it's safe to say: upgrade!

SOLD OUT!

Foiled again!

Today was the day to scramble to your local Whole Foods and secure an oh-so-trendy and enviro-friendly "I'm Not A Plastic Bag," which has been selling out all over the world. Unfortch, if you were not up at the butt-crack of dawn and waiting in line when the store opened...it's too late for you, my lovelies.

By the time I got to the store, the bags had BEEN gone. Mind you, doors opened at 8 am, I rolled up around a quarter to 10. What can I say, Elle is just never that pressed. Green people, on the other hand, they don't play!
For those of you who are anti all of this it-bag craziness, maybe this bag is more your cup of tea:

LOL! I think that just about says it all. They are available here, and no standing in line!

TrendWatch: Plastic bags are so last week...

By now we've all heard the various celebs, politicians and tree huggers chiding us energy wasting, gas guzzling litterers to "Go Green!" Caring about the environment is the new crack, ya'll. In keeping with this current upswing, Anya Hindmarch, accessory designer extraordinaire, has created an international phenomenon with her reusable shopping bag, "I'm Not a Plastic Bag." Out of nowhere, it's become the must-have "it" bag of the season for both the environmentally conscious and trend hags like yours truly.

It quickly sold out in the UK and US, with versions to be launched next month in Ireland, Milan, Japan and various countries in South East Asia.
But not to fret my pets! Starting July 18th, I'm Not A Plastic bag will be available to buy from Whole Foods stores in the Tri-State area! For the bargain price of £7.50 (don't ask, numbers aren't my thing) you can have one of your own!
