Beauty Buzz: Solange Crops her Mop

Everyone's favorite wierd little sister, Miss Solange, has decided to trump all the young starlets who have recently shaved half their heads (I'm looking at you Cassie, LaLa and Rihanna) by shaving hers entirely and going au natural. Well now!

I love her courage and short hair is definitely the ish but I tend to like this particular look on more mature women who have liiiived. It's a little jarring on young Solo. I think the key to this look for her will be makeup. In my book, short hair necessitates more makeup! It's a Fabulosity Rule #448.

What's your verdict?

What's Happening Here?

Eco-friendly fashion is bigger than ever, but recently, going green has officially gone to the next level. And when I say green, I mean that literally. Mischa Barton was spotted out and about in a skirt that appears to be inspired by moss...

...Madonna showed up at the UNICEF Gala in a grass-themed Louis Vuitton frock straight from the Spring 2009 runway...

...and Colbie Caillat worked the red carpet at last night's AMA's in a bright green dress made of actual fresh flowers.

Hmmm...is this a trend you would actually try? Or do these dresses remind you of a Project Runway challenge gone wrong?

Elizabeth and James Plume Feather Vest

First seen on Rihanna, the Plume Feather Vest from MK and Ashley Olsen's Elizabeth and James line has been making fashionable appearances on starlets everywhere this month. The front of the popular silk twill tuxedo vest is scattered, smothered and covered with delicate ostrich feathers from shoulder to hem. Rihanna smartly paired hers with black skinny jeans, a white beater and Louboutins.

Cassie wore hers shirtless with pointy pumps and leggings and kept it simple in head to toe black.

Amerie went way OTT, combining her vest with a pink tank, fringed over-the-knee boots, a printed bag and too much makeup.

My girl Aubrey stood out from the crowd in the white version, but lost me with those python boots.

The feathery vest is flying out of stores but can still be found at Intermix for $595.00. Would you wear it?

Trendwatch: Genie pants?

Marc Jacobs Spring 2007 RTW
adf
Last year (which in fashion might as well have been last decade) Marc Jacobs showed big, billowy Hammer pants on his Spring '07 runway. But as we know, Marc Jacobs can't always be trusted when it comes to truly wearable clothes. However, the genie look has officially made it to the streets. H&M and Topshop have both included harem pants in their Spring 08 collections, and amazingly, at last night's CFDA Fashion Awards, three whole celebs wore them on the red carpet.

Ashley Olsen

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Naomi Campbell

Even though it is now readily available, this is a hard trend to pull off. If you dare, I would definitely recommend pairing them with heels and a more structured top, like a blazer.

So, what do you think? Is it officially Hammer time?

Do tights = pants?

The divalicious JHud was spotted at LAX on Monday looking comfy and ready to take flight in her travel wear, and she reminded me of a question Nylon Magazine posed in it's Young Hollywood Issue (May 2008). Are leggings to be worn in lieu of pants? Are tights alright as more than an undergarment?

Tyra clearly thinks so. Oh and Mary Kate, Ashley and Lindsay have pretty much decided to wear leggings in lieu of pants from now until henceforth. As much as I am a fan of tights and leggings under long tops or short skirts, the whole phenomenon of wearing them as pants makes me uneasy. IMO, it's just too much information.

What do you think? Are leggings as pants totally bohemian chic? Or should these women be fined for the crime of cameltoe?

P.S. There's a whole website dedicated to stopping the movement of tights as pants, check it out here...
