London is simply sparkling this week as it hosts the first ever Jewellery Fashion Week, sponsored by Coutts. Leading names and cutting-edge talent in the industry will come together to celebrate the art, passion, style and inspiration of jeweled adornments.
One of the signature pieces to be featured is the above handbag, worth an astounding £1 million! Designed by Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka, it's made entirely of platinum and set with over 2,000 diamonds.
The diamond-laden strap can be detached and worn as a necklace, and the eight-carat pear-shaped diamond in the center can removed and worn as a brooch. Just wow.
Jewellery Fashion Week runs from June 11 to June 15, 2008. To all my UK lovebugs, you can check out the schedule of events, here.
I'll be celebrating London Jewellery Week by participating in a jewelry exchange with my Sorority sisters. It's fun and super simple! At your next gathering, ask all your girlfriends to bring their unwanted costume jewelry. Everyone is allowed to pick out pieces from the pile (you can pick numbers out of a hat if competition is fierce). This is a great way to get some new accessories without spending a dime. After all, one woman's trash is another woman's treasure!
