Last year (which in fashion might as well have been last decade) Marc Jacobs showed big, billowy Hammer pants on his Spring '07 runway. But as we know, Marc Jacobs can't always be trusted when it comes to truly wearable clothes. However, the genie look has officially made it to the streets. H&M and Topshop have both included harem pants in their Spring 08 collections, and amazingly, at last night's CFDA Fashion Awards, three whole celebs wore them on the red carpet.

Even though it is now readily available, this is a hard trend to pull off. If you dare, I would definitely recommend pairing them with heels and a more structured top, like a blazer.

A Must or A Bust?

What a weekend. First, there were two nights at BK Fashion Weekend (underground fashion and a fab time had by all). Then Easter with the family at Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (amaaazing). And of course I couldn't bring my weekend to a close without some quality time with my b*tches, Chocolate Thunder and the Dream Girls. Where did the time go? Unfortch, the partners actually want me to focus at work so look out for all things BK Fashion Weekend later this week.

Recently, Prada hosted an viewing party for the short film "Trembled Blossoms" at their store in Beverly Hills. The four minute film, which is creepily cool, is a promo for Prada's Spring/Summer 2008 collection. You can view it here. It's like this psychodelic trip following an animated wood nymph that is gifted with head to toe Prada (including this dress) while traveling through nature. Okay, I don't hike, camp or even walk all that much, but in this case, I'd make an exception. Sign me up! Oh and look out for the lesbionics at the 1:50 mark. Zexy!

But I'm digressing. This Prada party was, of course, chock full of celebs in Prada (or Miu Miu), but it was these skirts that caught my eye...

When I first saw these skirts, I was mildly horrified. But the more I look, the more I like. There's something very ladylike and ethereal about them, almost as if they're floating.

Lady D. Does the Wave

Greetings creampuffs! I'd like to introduce you all to Lady D., my beauty advisor, makeup maven and skincare queen, who has graciously agreed to be the resident guinea pig, I mean, provide stellar product reviews for the inaword...fab family upon request. Her first assignment? The Neutrogena Wave! Tell me Lady-luv, is it a must? Or a bust?

Those who are blessed to be acquainted with me know that I love to give good face. My mantra when the clothes, hair or shoes are not working out is "...but YO, look at your glowing, smooth, and yummalicious skin. Go 'head wit yaself!" And out the door I go.

Because I am on a never-ending quest for the ultimate facial cleanser, when the lovely Elle asked me to comment on the Neutrogena WAVE for yall's beauty edification, I jumped at the chance. You're welcome. Here we go -

I have been using the WAVE for approximately 10 days, and I tell you, my face has been through all sorts of changes from day to day with this thing. In sum, I think the product is pretty good. It is certainly fun to use...it gives you a very gentle vibration that is quite relaxing (I was almost late to work a few days), and the cleanser has a pleasant, fresh smell to it. I did notice right away that my face was noticeably softer after the first use.

HOWEVER, I must say I have been through it with this thing for the first week, and not in a good way. Here's the prob - the pads have acne medication within them, designed to really clean out the old pores. Good right? Kinda. Upon the first use - BOOM! Pimple city. OK, only 2. The acne meds caused all the yucky oil to spring right up to the surface. Traumatized was I, but they went quickly enough, it actually helped some stubborn bumps I had on my face to erupt and then go away. So I continued onward with the WAVE.

Now, remember I said it was relaxing to use? Brain-surgeon me decides to buzz my face for like 5 minutes at a time. Bad move. The acne meds? They also dry out your skin something awful. I mean, I was desert-city. So days 4-7 saw my face very dry, red and flaky, especially in the areas I thought needed major work, like around my poor little nosey. So I went from pimples to really dry within a week. (Sigh) I remedied the dryness by dousing my face several times a day for about 2 days with thick moisturizer. By the end of the first week, I was somewhat back to normal.

Alright, so most of you would have tossed the thing by now, right? Not I, but for the greater good of smooth-skin-kind, I trodded onward for yalls. And I'm glad I did. With a few modifications, I now see the benefits every is raving about – softer, smoother skin, smaller to non-existent pores, and a sort of glow like I was just with a virile young man for a few hours…..LOL. So, my suggestions for use of the Wave?

1) Do NOT buzz your face for madd long; a minute or 2 will do. Try not to focus too long on one area, or you're guaranteed to be flaking in this area the next day.

2) Until Neutrogena decides to make pads without acne medication, use the WAVE daily, as opposed to twice a day to prevent dryness. I would recommend using the WAVE at night to get all the sweat, makeup and whatever else out of your pores. Try a creamy cleanser in the morning to moisturize. This also keeps you from running out of those expensive-ass pads (they're about $8 for 30, in the initial pack with the WAVE you get about 12).

3) Keep a good moisturizer handy in the event you do experience the drying effect of the pads.

4) Do NOT use the WAVE around the delicate eye area…take the pad off and gently cleanse afterwards, GENTLY.

Overall, I say give the WAVE a whirl. I have pretty sensitive, combo skin, and albeit a few minor mishaps, I'm pretty sure I will still stick with the product. I'm sure others have had vastly different experiences than I, so really, you must try for yourself. I pretty sure that those with oily skin will benefit the most. And, hey, if you hate it, well, it does vibrate……

Hello Kitty for guys?

Starting next month, Japan's Sanrio Co. will begin targeting young men with the uber-popular Hello Kitty brand. A collection of T-shirts, bags and watches featuring a "more rugged, cool" Kitty is set to appeal to men in their teens and early 20s.

Company spokesman Kazuo Tohmatsu says, “We think Hello Kitty is accepted by young men as a design statement in fashion...Young men these days grew up with character goods...That generation feels no embarrassment about wearing Hello Kitty.”

Even though I'm shaking my head at this, I'm quite sure it will do well in Tokyo where men's clothing tends to be more androgynous and eccentric. And I can also envision some men here in the U.S. snapping for the kids in a tight Hello Kitty tee. What do you think about this? A must or a bust?

Louis Vuitton Bags on Acid?

Or should I say Marc Jacobs on acid? We all know how I felt about his Spring 2008 Ready to Wear show, but now lets focus on what's really important...the bags. The Spring 2008 designs can be described with one word: color. Kelly greens, royal purples, golden yellows and bubblegum pinks reign supreme, sometimes all on one bag! Classic LV this is not. From the handles to the hanging tags to the monograms, everything has turned seriously psychodelic. What do we think buttercups? A must or a bust?

This is definitely one of those trends that you either love or hate, but every celeb hipster worth their salt is rockin a pair of Raybans' iconic Wayfarer sunglasses right now. Of course, that means it was time for your girl Elle to get on the bandwagon. Although you can get an authentic pair for $100 plus, why splurge on an item you will most likely be looking at with disgust next year? I got mine here for a steal ($12.99 plus shipping).
They are super cute: they give me a geeky chic, quiet cool look that I'm loving. These are a great alternative for those of you who are over the huge, bug-eyed sunglasses that have been everywhere the past couple of years.

TrendWatch: Cleavage Cut-Outs?

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. When I first started seeing this look in paparazzi shots a few weeks ago, I thought it was a fluke. Sure, cut outs are everywhere at the moment, most notably in swimsuits. But cleavage cut outs? Has someone been playing with scissors again? Sadly, no. As you can see, Kelly Osbourne and Naomi Campbell are rocking the look in the same Versace dress, while Steve Harvey's fiance, Marjorie Bridges is wearing a similar top.
