Excuse His Beauty: The Sergio Garcia Story

Same sex marriage may have gotten the hell no this week in the state of California, but on Planet Los Angeles, boys can be prom queen! Certified sassy bish, Sergio Garcia, was just voted queen of the ball at Fairfax High School! Take that homo haters! Garcia nabbed the title after killing everyone softly with a compassionate speech made to the Senior Class earlier this week. I smell a Lifetime movie in the works! "Excuse His Beauty: The Sergio Garcia Story." Copyright pending! This news has made my cold cold heart melt enough to feel the sweet tingle of justice. Somewhere Adam Glambert is smiling.

Read on for deets!

An openly gay teen is the new prom queen at Fairfax High School. Sergio Garcia, 18, was crowned queen Saturday night at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. "I feel invincible," Garcia said wearing his rhinestone studded tiara.
-
A few days earlier, he gave a speech that touched a nerve with students: "At one time, prom may have been a big popularity contest where the best-looking guy or girl were crowned king and queen. Things have changed and it's no longer just about who has the most friends or who wears the coolest clothes," Garcia told a gymnasium full of seniors. "I'm not your typical prom queen candidate. There's more to me than meets the eye."
-
Garcia assured the crowd he wouldn't wear a dress on prom night."I will be wearing a suit," he said. "But don't be fooled, deep down I am a queen."Garcia said he saw fliers advertising the prom and the election, and they didn't specify that the queen must be a girl. He thought the role would suit him better than prom king."I don't wish to be a girl," he told KTLA Jaime Chambers.. "I just wish to be myself. Being prom queen has changed my life and inspired the lives of other students, who are like me."
-
Senior class president Vanessa Lo said she and many other students were initially against the idea but were won over by Garcia's speech and became convinced he wasn't just an attention-seeking clown."It just goes to show how open-minded our class is," Lo said. Other students weren't as happy, and suggested many voted for Garcia just to see the spectacle of two boys dancing together at the prom."I'm not really happy about that," said 17-year-old Juan Espinoza. "He should've run for prom king."
-
Fairfax High School, located at the intersection of Melrose and Fairfax Avenues, has often been at the forefront of the gay rights struggle.

Bebe Didn't F*%k it Up!

I am sending loads of lashes, lipstick and love to Bebe Zahara Benet, recently crowned winner of RuPaul's Drag Race and America's Next Drag Superstar! The 28-year-old native of the West African republic of Cameroon brought an ultra exotic and oh so sophisticated energy to the show that took her straight to the top! Not only did she serve up the most effortless fabulosity, but grace and dignity as well. I lived for this show and all of its contestants. And why did it take so long for RuPaul to get a show? Seriously, Ru did Tyra better than Tyra does Tyra. Can't wait for next season! Oh and Bebe, you better work.

Maternity wear just got fiercer-er

Ferosha Coutura himself, Christian Siriano, is collaborating with the Moody Mamas for a maternity line to be called (what else?) Fierce for Moody Mamas by Christian Siriano, due out this Spring 2009. Initial sketches look to include ruffled baby-doll dresses and flattering wrap looks that can most likely be worn even post-pregnancy.

According to a rep, Siriano, who is BFF with Moody Mamas founders, Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin, "Thought it would be great for a gay man to team up with two women who've never had a baby to do maternity clothes."

Drag queens are having the best week ever

La Diva Laverne
Between Laverne "I am a Strong Black Woman" Cox on I Want to Work for Diddy, the drag queen dream challenge on last night's Project Runway, and Wendy Williams getting picked up for an entire season, drag queens are officially having the best week ever. I, for one, am thoroughly queened out, honey!
The hair. The makeup. The boobs. The DRAMA. Does anyone else feel plain and horribly underdressed all of a sudden?

My girl Laverne, who should really be on someone's soap opera, is totally to blame for my new catchphrase of the moment, "I am shocked and Rupauled...," which just doesn't get old. We also learned this week that she likes to dry her tears with chocolate, so I feel a certain kinship.

Speaking of Rupaul, the granddaddy (yeah I said it) of all drag queens made a fierce (but gaunt-faced) appearance as runway judge on PR last night! I liiiived for those queens, darling.

Question: where are all the black girls? Luckily, there were a few Latinas in the mix to represent the mino population. But still, where is Laverne when you need her?

And speaking of queens, a huge how u doin goes out to the Queen of all Media, Wendy Williams, on being reupped for a full season of "Feel it feel it feel it, oooowp oooowp, shout it out!" We all know how I love me some Miss Wendy, but watching her show yesterday, I found myself staring in amazement. Dude really does look like a lady. I don't know if it was yesterday's wig du jour or what, but she seriously skates the line between gorgeously over-the-top Amazon and totally drag-alicious, and this day it was definitely more drag than -licious. Either way, she's ready for her closeup! Wendy, girl, you better work.

Supermodel of the World

Dee-vahs! How are we? I hope you're all delightfully dazzling! So this past weekend, your girl Elle made her runway debut in the legendary Cornell Simpkins Fashion Extravaganza in the cosmopolitan hub of Northern New Jersey...Newark, darling. Yes, honey it was one to remember. I'll have pics/video at some point but all I have to say is, I walked on the same runway as the one and only, Andre J.! I can totally die now.

Seriously, this is the second of my Models of the Moment that I've met! The first was my first ever Model of the Moment, Miguel Perdomo. I think I'm still reeling from that close encounter...my God he's hot. Really though, I am manifesting models left and right! This begs the question...who should I manifest next????

California Love

Congrats to all my California love bugs! You're that much closer to divorce! I could shed a tear. Equality is a beautiful thing.

It's Christmas in May

Thank you Santa! The Logo channel is set to air a new reality show competition called RuPaul's Drag Race. Contestants will compete for the title of top drag queen in six, one hour episodes airing early next year. Friend in my head, RuPaul will be all up and through the show, as he is serving as host, mentor and judge. Contestants are allowed to bring one stylist or friend with them to the competition. How fun is that?

RuPaul had this to say, "Tell Tyra that the Queen has returned, and while you're at it have Heidi clear the runway. I'm going to pump some 'realness' into reality. To be a winner on this show the contestants need to be a fashion designer, an American Idol, and a top model all rolled up into one. And they definitely have to be smarter than a fifth grader."

Okay let me get this straight: RuPaul, plus drag queens and their BFF's battling it out for the title? I am literally breathless with anticipation. Seriously, this is like my Superbowl. Not to be missed.

Out About Town: Bryce's Birthday

The birthday girl...gorgeous darling.

On Thursday night, I had the distinct pleasure of feting the fabulous Bryce Gruber, owner of IntenCity Global PR and Salonika Ltd. Jewelry, at a birthday celebration in her honor. The venue was the cavernous D'Or, which was the perfect setting for me to mix and mingle, with digi cam in hand, amongst the lovelies in attendance. Here's my night in a nutshell...

The first person I see? Richie Rich of Heatherette of course. Here he is working the pout with Chris Coffee of Gotham Lasik.

Stylist Matthew Anderson and I became fast friends...he saved me from the clutches of a cornball!

You know this was love at first sight...too fierce.

Bryce with her model friend, Sam Singer.

These party girls were soon dancing on the dark chocolate banquettes.

I met the dapper Ronnie Williams (on right) that night, here with a friend...

...and again here with his boo. So get this: we ran into each other again at the end of the night (roundabout 6 am) in my building in NJ! I was getting on the elevator as he was getting off. Crazy right? We're def going to KIT.

He gave good face.

Love them...they were such bubbly fun!

Working the pose from his perch.

Loving the man cleavage.

Poppin' perm? Check. 80's glasses? Check. Keffiyah scarf? Check. I heart NY tee? Check. Fabulosity? Quadruple check.

I definitely felt her colorful tie-dyed top and big beauteous hair.

Nikolaj from Finland...sooo cute. He lit our drinks on fire and made me giggle.

His friend Mikkel was rocking the Dita Von Teese tee by Marc Jacobs.

Her smile just sparkled.

A lil percussion never hurt anybody.

The Hawaiian Tropic Zone Dancers shook a tailfeatha.

OMG! This was sooo the highlight of my night. The Countess LuAnn from Real Housewives of New York City made an appearance! I'm gaga for her. Fab indeed.

Photographer Antwan Duncan took a bunch of cool pics for Guest of a Guest...here's my close up.

Thanks Bryce and F.U.!
