It's Baaaaack! Project Runway Premieres Tonight!

Pour the pinot, pop the corn, pass the dutchie and prepare yourself for another magically delicious season of designer drama as Project Runway (woo!) debuts on its new channel, Lifetime, tonight at 10 pm!
-
The lost Season 6 will finally air after 8 months of legal shenanigans, and I haven't been this excited for television since RuPaul's Drag Race and its glittery gays were swirling around on Logo. (Puhleeze tell me that Season Two is in production!)

But I digress. This is about PR! All of our favorites judges are back, including Heidi, Tim, Michael and Nina (yes, we are on a first name basis). And speaking of favorites, as if the PR premiere weren't enough, Lifetime is airing a special All Star Challenge tonight at 8 pm, featuring eight past PR finalists competing for $100,000!

I'm practically schvitzing with anticipation! Where the H are my blotting papers when I need them?

Be there tonight at 8!

Prepping for Project Runway Season 6...and 7!

If an entire season of Project Runway, including the always climactic runway show at Bryant Park, has been filmed, and a winner crowned, but none of it has ever actually aired, does that season actually exist? Surprisingly, the answer is yes, since after all the legal shenanigans, PR fans will finally get their Season 6 fix beginning this summer on Lifetime. The jury is still out as to whether the fashion designer face-off will remain true to its Bravo roots, but I for one am still waiting breathlessly in anticipation for Heidi, Tim and the ever colorful contestants.

Think you have what it takes to impress the judges on Season 7? Designer hopefuls should check out www.bunim-murray.com/prcasting. Season 7 casting is happening as we speak! Good luck, buttercups!

Christian Siriano for Payless

Photo: Imaxtree

Have you heard? Project Runway winner Christian Siriano has collaborated with Payless (one of my guiltiest pleasures) for his first-ever footwear and handbag collection, Christian Siriano for Payless.

Christian debuted his line of Cleopatra-inspired footwear and bags at his show during NY Fashion Week and from the looks of it, the collection will be amazing! The lush line combines a color palette of uber-rich chocolates, shimmering gold (check out the cone heels!) and printed aqua satin with hard rock details like spikes, chains, and studs.

All of this and more will be available beginning in September exclusively in Payless stores and on Payless.com for $25 to $45.

Recession-proof pricing!

Do you shop Bluefly.com?

Any Project Runway fan is familiar with the "Bluefly.com Accessories Wall" that each designer used to complete their runway looks. But have you checked it out for yourself? Not only do they stock the most sought after labels in clothing and accessories, but everything is 20, 40, even 60% off! And now through the end of the month, you can get $30 off any $150 purchase courtesy of Nylon Magazine (enter Nylon 30 at checkout).

They even have pieces handpicked by Lucky Magazine in their Lucky Shops section. For instance, they are stocking the soon to be classic YSL Downtown tote at 20% off the retail price!

Bravo Revamps

With the fate of Project Runway still in limbo, Bravo is casting a new design-competition series called "The Fashion Show" or "The Fashion House" (depending on who you ask). Viewers, rather than judges, will pick the winner and the prize includes a retail deal.

In a statement, Bravo Media executive Frances Berwick said called the show "the perfect complement to our successful fashion series 'Tim Gunn's Guide to Style' and 'The Rachel Zoe Project.'"

For all my NYC design stars, the New York casting is this Sunday, November 16 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at The Park, 118 Tenth Avenue (at 18th Street). Click here for all the details, you'll need to download an application and bring three articles of clothing that best showcase your work as a designer.

In yet another effort to replace Project Runway, Bravo has another fashion-oriented series in development called "Celebrity Sew-Off," which would give pseudo-celebs a chance to show off their design skills. Oh, joy.

Welp, good luck to all...I'll be watching!

Round one goes to NBC

Soooo, remember how Weinstein Company, the producers of Project Runway, unexpectedly yanked their hit show from NBC-owned Bravo's clutches and up and sold the show to Lifetime? Scandalous!

Well, NBC promised not to go down without a fight, arguing that Weinstein Co. failed to abide by their contractual obligation to give Bravo the right of refusal before shopping the show to other networks. Now, NBC has been granted a preliminary injunction that prevents Weinstein Co. from taking the show to Lifetime.

"NBC Universal is pleased that the court granted our motion for a preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Company," they said in a statement.

Weinstein and nem are, of course, appealing, and in the meantime, Project Runway fans will be getting the shaft. Until the matter is resolved, the show will not air on either network.

Lifetime had already begun production on the sixth cycle of PR, to begin airing in January with Lindsay Lohan as the first guest judge. Now all anyone can do is wait patiently for a judge to sort it out.

Meanwhile, this season's finale airs October 15, perhaps for the last time on Bravo.

Maternity wear just got fiercer-er

Ferosha Coutura himself, Christian Siriano, is collaborating with the Moody Mamas for a maternity line to be called (what else?) Fierce for Moody Mamas by Christian Siriano, due out this Spring 2009. Initial sketches look to include ruffled baby-doll dresses and flattering wrap looks that can most likely be worn even post-pregnancy.

According to a rep, Siriano, who is BFF with Moody Mamas founders, Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin, "Thought it would be great for a gay man to team up with two women who've never had a baby to do maternity clothes."

Drag queens are having the best week ever

La Diva Laverne
Between Laverne "I am a Strong Black Woman" Cox on I Want to Work for Diddy, the drag queen dream challenge on last night's Project Runway, and Wendy Williams getting picked up for an entire season, drag queens are officially having the best week ever. I, for one, am thoroughly queened out, honey!
The hair. The makeup. The boobs. The DRAMA. Does anyone else feel plain and horribly underdressed all of a sudden?

My girl Laverne, who should really be on someone's soap opera, is totally to blame for my new catchphrase of the moment, "I am shocked and Rupauled...," which just doesn't get old. We also learned this week that she likes to dry her tears with chocolate, so I feel a certain kinship.

Speaking of Rupaul, the granddaddy (yeah I said it) of all drag queens made a fierce (but gaunt-faced) appearance as runway judge on PR last night! I liiiived for those queens, darling.

Sharon Needles

Hedda Lettuce

Acid Betty

Miss Understood

Varla Jean Merman

Farrah Moans

Sweetie

Question: where are all the black girls? Luckily, there were a few Latinas in the mix to represent the mino population. But still, where is Laverne when you need her?

And speaking of queens, a huge how u doin goes out to the Queen of all Media, Wendy Williams, on being reupped for a full season of "Feel it feel it feel it, oooowp oooowp, shout it out!" We all know how I love me some Miss Wendy, but watching her show yesterday, I found myself staring in amazement. Dude really does look like a lady. I don't know if it was yesterday's wig du jour or what, but she seriously skates the line between gorgeously over-the-top Amazon and totally drag-alicious, and this day it was definitely more drag than -licious. Either way, she's ready for her closeup! Wendy, girl, you better work.

Breaking! Nina Out at Elle?

Project Runway judge and notorious bitch on wheels, Nina Garcia, is said to be out as fashion director for Elle magazine. Let the rumors begin! Speculation has actually been traveling around the industry for a while now, ever since prominent fashion stylist, Joe Zee, was hired by Elle as creative director in early 2007.
asdfadf
Then on Tuesday, Elle hosted a soiree celebrating Simon Doonan's new book, 'Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fashionable You', and Miss Nina was "notably absent."
afasdf
Hmmm...this could get interesting. All I know is that this better not impact Project Runway! There's already been enough drama this week, with the show being sued by NBC after switching from Bravo to Lifetime (under a contract for beaucoup bucks).

Project Runway Spoilers!

It's Vicki, bitch
asdfasdf
Just a few short hours ago, the Project Runway finalists premiered their super secret collections in Bryant Park and the internets are abuzz with spoilers! I simply MUST share, so if you'd prefer to be suprised, click away while you still can!
asdfas
Spoiler #1 Victoria Beckham is the guest judge for the finale. Genius! She is the absolute perfect choice for the coveted position of choosing this season's winner. I'm currently reading "That Extra Half an Inch" and I've fallen in love with this woman. More on this later, but suffice it to say that I completely admire her sense of style and commitment to fabulosity even with three little boys tugging at her VDB jeans.
asdfasd
Spoiler #2 I won't ruin it for everyone, but Brian from AfterElton.com liveblogged the entire show and has the inside scoop on who was there, what the collections looked like, and who he thinks took the title. (Read from the bottom up.) Of course, all five of the remaining designers (Sweet P, Chris, Jillian, Rami and Christian) showed so that nosy bloggers like myself wouldn't be able to tell which three truly make it to the finale...but if I were to gander a guess, I would say that last three that showed, were the actual final three. (Plus, that would mean that my Fafarazzi fantasy team is effin genius.) Okay, so read Brian's rundown, come back, and let me know what you think!
asfdasdf
UPDATE Spoiler #3 The pièce de résistance, pictures of the full collections! I feel so naughty for looking...but I just had to. Jaslene, Dani and Bianca from ANTM all walked in the show...three snaps and a clap for staying relevant! Okay, so now, if you dare, go take a look at the collections, come back, and tell me who you think deserves to win!

I Approve!

This makes me happy. Jack from Project Runway and Dale from Top Chef are dating! Clearly, Jack is way hotter than Dale but I can totally see how their personalities mesh. They would be hilarious to have over for dinner. Call me guys!
asdfasdf
Jack: "It's very baby steps. I really like him a lot. And geography is a bit of an issue, but we'll see where it goes. I like him a lot. I assume he likes me a lot. Unless he's lying...(laughter)... He's adorable. I like keeping it incestual, keep it in the Bravo family."
asdfasdf
Dale: "Yeah, we randomly met over Myspace. And then we bumped into each other at the OUT100 party and clicked. He's hilarious. We're just gonna roll with it and see what happens. And he's cute as %&#@. We have the same sense of humor. We giggle a lot, and you know, anytime you end up going through the Bravo-reality-show...we just looked at each other and said, 'yeah...'"

aasdfasd
I can SO hear Bravo execs right now prepping for a spin-off show....but what would it be called?

Project Runway Returns!

Thank the fashion gods! I have been impatiently waiting for what has seemed like yeeeaarrs for the return of Project Runway, my most favoritest reality competition, and today is the day! Set your Tivos, pop some popcorn and get ready to make it work!

So last week, the first-ever Project Runway preview fashion show was held, and each of the 15 new designers sent three signature looks down the runway. After the show, Tim Gunn told reporters: “This is the first season I’ve said any one of the designers is talented enough to win the entire season.” Take a gander at some of the looks that were previewed below:

I need that ruffled trench in my life. And if you're PR obsessed and/or bored at work, Fafarazzi.com is staging a lil Project Runway Season 4 Fantasy game. Pick your favorite 3 for each episode and win or lose points depending on if they win a competition, get in a fight, leave the show or get told to "Make it Work." Fun!
