It's Baaaaack! Project Runway Premieres Tonight!

Pour the pinot, pop the corn, pass the dutchie and prepare yourself for another magically delicious season of designer drama as Project Runway (woo!) debuts on its new channel, Lifetime, tonight at 10 pm!

The lost Season 6 will finally air after 8 months of legal shenanigans, and I haven't been this excited for television since RuPaul's Drag Race and its glittery gays were swirling around on Logo. (Puhleeze tell me that Season Two is in production!)

But I digress. This is about PR! All of our favorites judges are back, including Heidi, Tim, Michael and Nina (yes, we are on a first name basis). And speaking of favorites, as if the PR premiere weren't enough, Lifetime is airing a special All Star Challenge tonight at 8 pm, featuring eight past PR finalists competing for $100,000!

I'm practically schvitzing with anticipation! Where the H are my blotting papers when I need them?

Out About Town: She's Got the Look!

Are you watching Season 2 of She's Got the Look, TV Land's modeling competition for fabulous women over 35? You should be! The adorable Robert Verdi, stylist to the stars, is one of the celebrity judges. Not only is he talented...

...he's also super sweet! In early June, I attended the Robert Verdi and Friends sale at the thrift store mecca, Housing Works NYC. Besides scooping up some fabulous 60's era clip on earrings, a necklace that spells out "MEOW" in CZ's, and a Himalayan purse (totaling $16!), I also met Robert, who quickly grabbed my camera and declared himself the "master" at taking self-portraits like the one above.

During the event, Robert was filming for his upcoming series, The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi, coming soon to a television near you. But I digress. This post is all about She's Got the Look!

Besides meeting Mr. Verdi, just last week I met Hope Toliver who competed on Season 1 of the show, at a birthday party at 1OAK. Her slim white suit definitely stood out in the crowd, and I remembered how inspired I was watching her and her castmates; gorgeous women of a certain age following their model dreams!

Lucky for us, She's Got the Look is back for Season 2. Check it out on TV Land, Thursdays at 9 PM/8 Central!

"The Hills" are alive...again!

Yes, bitches! Season 5 of the pseudo-reality dramz fest, "The Hills", will premiere Monday, April 6th at 10pm ET. As much as I would love to say I'm above the rich bitch shenanigans of L.C., Heidi, Audrina and nem, I will sooo be there. Or at least my Tivo will. Will Lauren and Heidi finally settle their differences (AKA push Spencer off a cliff), have a good cry and become besties again? Will Justin Bobby put together a coherent sentence? Has Brody gotten any hotter and is that even possible? Inquiring minds want to know!

TV Timeout

Ummmm...has anyone seen my motivation? Seriously, the change in seasons has me in straight hibernation mode. All I want to do these days is lie on my couch, watch trash television and snack my life away. Fabulous parties, fashion events and free cocktails...meh. The very things that just a few weeks ago had me out and about constantly are so not providing the same incentive. And I'm actually okay with that. I know the wild child/party girl in me is just taking a disco nap, and will be back in full swing momentarily. In the meantime, I'm enjoying a much needed TV timeout. There's some really good/really bad TV on! Here's a few things that keep me glued to my tube...

The Way It Is: Season 3, chile! Keyshia with her new veneers, Neffe with her new baby and Frankie with her same ol' crackish tendencies...damn all of you! The wig changes on this show alone keep me in stitches. Hollah!

I am so ashamed but Maury is one of the guiltiest pleasures of all time. When I can catch a paternity or lie detector episode, my day has officially been made.

If you're not watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta, seriously, what are you doing with your spare time? These bishes are a hilarious mess. Team NeNe! BUT, to provide full disclosure, when I took the Which Housewife Are You? test, I was Sheree! Please excuse my classy.

Top Chef is back! Competitive drama and droolworthy food equals quality television in my book! So far, Carla is my fave. She has a quirky personality and she depends on her spirit guides to tell her what to cook. I love it. And is that an animal print skinny belt over the chef's jacket? Fierce.

Omg am I the only one watching 20/20 on WE? Probably, but I am always down for some salacious investigative reporting and true-crime stories. And my girl, Deborah Roberts, is the host! She has this look she gives people she's interviewing that's a mix of pity, compassion and "What da hell were you thinking?"

And this weekend, Miss B is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live!!!! Live performances of "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies" means I will be there with bells on. I'm still on the lookout for a mechanical glove of my own. Can't wait!

Bravo Revamps

With the fate of Project Runway still in limbo, Bravo is casting a new design-competition series called "The Fashion Show" or "The Fashion House" (depending on who you ask). Viewers, rather than judges, will pick the winner and the prize includes a retail deal.

In a statement, Bravo Media executive Frances Berwick said called the show "the perfect complement to our successful fashion series 'Tim Gunn's Guide to Style' and 'The Rachel Zoe Project.'"

For all my NYC design stars, the New York casting is this Sunday, November 16 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at The Park, 118 Tenth Avenue (at 18th Street). Click here for all the details, you'll need to download an application and bring three articles of clothing that best showcase your work as a designer.

In yet another effort to replace Project Runway, Bravo has another fashion-oriented series in development called "Celebrity Sew-Off," which would give pseudo-celebs a chance to show off their design skills. Oh, joy.

Mad Men: it's all about the fashion

The 1950's fashion highlighted on the hit AMC show, Mad Men, is inspiring fashion followers everywhere and is perfectly on trend with the return to more ladylike and gentlemanly dressing. Thanks in part to the show, countless men are showing up to events smartly dressed in slim suits and skinny ties, and many women now prefer sheath dresses and pearls to minis and flip flops. The show's fashion was even the influence behind Michael Kors' Fall 2008 RTW collection.


In fact, to celebrate the premiere of season two, Mr. Kors is giving away a DVD set of the first season with each purchase of over $350 at 30 select retailers. Bloomingdale's is also getting in on the Mad Men fashion inspiration. The retailer launched mini shops instore with clothing, accessories and barware that speaks to the show's fashion sensibility, and they have been so successful that they will stay open through the fall. This month's GQ also features John Slattery, who plays Roger Sterling on the show, in a six-page fashion spread.

With Mad Men, it seems it's all about the fashion.

Pilar is my play cousin

Okay who watched the premiere of Deion & Pilar last night? It came on right after The Bad Girls Club (one of my favorite guilty pleasures) and I was so thoroughly entertained! First things first, Pilar is ga-ga-ga-gorgeous. And she gives the pure unadulterated conceit that is Deion Sanders, a run for his money. (Kim Porter, take note). Deion traveling from room to room in his mansion on that motorized scooter tickles me every time.

Can we please share a moment of silence for the children's names: Deion Jr. AKA Bucky, Deiondra, Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi....I love black people.

The best part of all?!??! Gary with da Tea! I'm in luv, yall! Miss Honey with da Tea, who's the entertainment reporter for Ricky Smiley's Morning Show, was just as precious as he wanted to be! Next time I'm in Dallas, we are sooo doing lunch and Neiman's (the flagship store is right downtown). Call me Gary!

A. Keys is Fresh-faced for Dove

Has anyone else been watching Alicia Keys in that "Fresh Takes" micro-series on MTV? I'm quite sure you have, since each three minute ep shares a coveted time slot with everyone's guilty pleasure, The Hills. So in case you were powdering your nose, on last night's episode, lil Lizzie was feeling all insecure about her body (as usual), so she decided to try out yoga to get that model perfect body she’s always wanted. Of course, she just ended up in a knot on the floor instead.

This is something I can totally relate to. I am on the constant search for new and exciting ways to torture myself aka lose weight. And I was really feeling Lizzie's pain because my latest greatest idea is Bikram yoga. Yes, hot yoga people. I have a friend who swears by it. All I know is that you do yoga in a room that's heated to 100 plus degrees. Profuse sweat and unnatural flexibility ensues. I'm not all that into yoga, but I do like steam rooms so I think that counts for something.

My first class is on Saturday! Has anyone tried it? Will I survive (you know I'm delicate)? Will I sweat buckets and lose pounds? And most importantly, what about my hair?

How To Look Good Naked

Okay luvies, who watched the newest makeover show to hit your telly, How to Look Good Naked? Well, it premiered this weekend on Lifetime and I must say I was, at least for 30 minutes, enthralled. Based on a British show of the same name (hosted by noted UK stylist Gok Wan), the U.S. version features Fab Five cutie-pie Carson Kressley as the resident self-help/style guru whose job is to take confidence-challenged women on a journey to self-love.

At times reminiscent of the Dove Campaign For Real Beauty, the show's main premise is to get a woman to love and appreciate her naked body. Seems simple enough but it's actually quite a concept, since we all know that even self-assured women have issues with certain parts of their anatomy. The most satisfying part is that despite a woman's measurements, there is no mention of any dieting or cosmetic procedures, but rather the emphasis is on loving (and working with) what you've got.

In the first episode, Carson took the unsuspecting young chippy from undergarments to affirmations in his quest for a complete mind/body/style transformation. It was absolutely amazing to see the difference between her perception of how her body looked to others, and what was actually the reality. All in all, this show is a great reminder that our focus should not be on what we lack but rather on what we actually have! Feel good television with practical style tips thrown in...what could be better? Unfortunately, as with many makeover shows, it's unclear how many episodes it can go on before the sugary schtick gets old.

The high-powered women of Cashmere Mafia

And while we're talking about new television shows, did anyone catch Cashmere Mafia on ABC? Besides the fact that its a dramatical chickfest all about the ups and downs of four New York career women with an onslaught of personal and professional issues, I would further suggest watching merely for aesthetic purposes. After all, the show is styled by Patricia Field of SATC fame, who in all her zaniness never ceases to provide inspiring eye candy for the fashion saavy. Tune in, dolls!
