Fab Look of the Day

Go Mo! One of my favorite funny girls, Monique, made a dazzling arrival at the Hoodie Awards this past weekend in Vegas looking like a svelte and feathery dream!
Although I do wish her buhbies were perched just a tad higher, it is clear losing 40 pounds and wearing strategically placed undergarments has worked wonders for Miss Mo! And more importantly, she is giving me effects with this dress! The silhouette makes her look long, lean and luscious. I also love the fact that she paired it with simple hair, soft makeup and minimal accessories. Claps and snaps to her handlers, good work out of each and every one of you!

Monique has chosen the perfect time to get ready for her close up. She has the industry abuzz with her apparent star turn in the highly anticipated film, Precious, and will soon debut her own late night talk show on BET. Good for you girl!

Fab Find of the Day

-
Very often, I find myself leaving the suited up, corporate environment that is my job and heading straight to the trendiest fashion and industry events in NYC. That being said, I tend to get super creative with my wardrobe and use pieces that can take me from straight-laced to sexy with ease. New York & Company's Stretch Pencil Skirt in python print is one of those finds that can easily take me from day to night, and fits comfortably within my budget to boot!

On a lazy weekend, I might pair it with a white tank, oversized grey cardigan, cinch my waist with a black belt and finish the look with black cut-out booties. For a summer work day, I might wear it with a white ruffled blouse under a white blazer and strappy silver heels.

Even Vogue has taken notice of the awesome-ness of this skirt! Check out page 489 of the April issue (with Michelle Obama on the cover), where it is featured in the 100+ under 100 section. Although it's not yet available in stores, you can grab yours online right now!

See anything else you like at NYandCompany.com? Now through Sunday, March 15, enjoy $25 off a $75 purchase by entering promo code 1870 at checkout.

Fab Look of the Day

Can Vicky Beckham look any more impossibly chic? Here she is leaving the Donna Karan store in the Meatpacking District on Saturday, wearing a body-hugging black shift with a plunging V and exposed zipper down the back, a chubby fur bolero, motorcycle gloves, a men's gold watch, huge black glasses, sky high pumps, and a black Birkin. I am drooooling from the pure unadulterated fabulosity of it all.

Miss B recently divulged in the latest
Harper’s Bazaar just what it takes to look like this on a daily basis: “It’s funny; I go to the gym now…I run four miles a day…I go into hair and makeup, and I turn into ‘Victoria Beckham.’ I’ll try on all my dresses, and I’ll pick out a handbag, and I’ll put on the shades. I instantly turn into this person, and it sort of feels like a character. And there are so many pictures of it… But it’s a true character because it’s still me.”

As much as I love everything about this look, she lost me with those random hair clips. Just why? But I am willing to overlook this based on overall ferociousness. Love.

Fab Look of the Day

I am in hot lesbian love with Portia de Rossi's wedding gown! Miss P always looks glamorous and ladylike, but I am shocked and RuPauled* at how effortlessly elegant she is in that dress. Simply stunning. The gorgeously constructed cream halterneck bodice with plunging neckline is a striking counterpoint to the blush pink princess skirt. Confection perfection, darling. All courtesy of your friend and mine, Zac Posen. Oh and Ellen has on Zac Posen too. Whatevs.

Fab Look of the Day

Now this is what I call an orange crush. Veteran British model Erin O'Connor has totally stolen my heart in this dreamy tangerine-colored Ashley Isham dress she wore to the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Party in London. I love how the haircut and complete absence of jewelry puts the spotlight where it should be: her striking face. And the dress! Confection perfection in the most of-the-moment shade. The black belt pulls everything together and the gold Swarovski bag adds just the right amount of sparkle. Seriously, honey, this look is sweet!

? Look of the Day

Jennifer Hudson (and her boobs) at the NY SATC premiere

So what do we think about J. Hud's premiere look? I'm torn. On the one hand, I kinda love it. She looks great with the short bob and natural makeup. I also really like the dominatrix diva dress (fabulously constructed). I'm just not sure if I like it on her. We've seen the futuristic Judy Jetson thing from her before and I'm still mad at André to this day. Perhaps the horrible, horrible vision of that short and shiny Oscar night bolero (sooo wrong for a large-chested woman) which is forever burned into my mind is keeping me from giving this look four fabulous stars.

Either that or she's just not working it like she should. Do tell, what do you think?

Fab Look of the Day

Be still my heart! Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr gets an A+ in my book for making a flawless appearance at Doncaster Day at the Australian Derby in Sydney, Australia. Ms. Miranda went back to black in a beautifully fitted long-sleeved Collette Dinnigan dress and accessorized with a classic Prada clutch, YSL pumps and a vintage-style netted hat. Her best accessory? Orlando Bloom on her arm of course! I've said it before and will say it again, a hot (not to mention rich) man is the best accessory a woman can have.

Some may think she looks like she should be attending a funeral, but let me tell you honey, nothing says glamour like head to toe black. Oh so Jackie O. I am also really into these heirloom style hats at the moment, they make such a fiercely feminine statement. Dita Von Teese is somewhere applauding (or hating, depending on her mood).

Thumbs up, Miranda-luv!

Happy Fashion Week!

Sufferin succotash sweet peach, where did the time go? It's February 1st and the start of other Fall Fashion Week! Woo hoo! And lean wit it, and rock wit it, and pop wit it, and loc wit it...okay I'm a little too excited. But even on a wet and rainy day like today, the start of Fall Fashion Week in NYC can only mean one thing...Spring is right around the corner!

Before I sign off for the weekend (Elle got bidness to attend to), I must give a little inaword...fab love to Kerry Washington, who was super smartly dressed at the Obama/Clinton one-on-one debate last night in Hollywood. She's both sophisticated and sexy in that fabulously fitted suit. Gorgeous!

And one more question, who is this fierce Asian woman in head to toe Marc Jacobs? Oh Kim, you're such a delightful mess and this is why I can't help but love you.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fab Look of the Day

Kelly RoRo is looking glowy, glam and gorgeous in a shake-your-shimmy dress at the In Style Best Beauty Buys 2008 launch in London. I know I get on Mariah all the time for wearing similar ensembles: tight, short, plunging neckline. Yes, Mariah, we know we're ash and you're lotion. But Kelly can pull this look off because she's young, fun, and fabulously fresh-faced! With that skin, face and body, she should absolutely be working her angles for all they're worth! Why let Beyonce have all the fun?

Kelly is currently in the UK promoting the new-fangled edition of her “Ms. Kelly” album which will include brand new songs and has a release date of March 10th. In terms of her album promotion, I still think desperate times call for desperate measures, but I'm rooting for you, Kels!

Fab Look of the Day

Sexy beast Kim Cattrall is looking tropically delicious on the set of the Sex and the City movie. Her fitted white skirt is the perfect foil to the color-blocked bloussant top. And the accessories! The belt, bag and earrings totally make this outfit for me. This look has lifted me from my winter doldrums and has me thinking Spring! That's the power of fashion!

Fab Looks of the Day

I must agree with my girl, F.U., these chicks have never, ever ever ever, looked better. Especially Venus! You better work! I'm damn near speechless. They've made mother so proud. I think I can hear someone humming "We Shall Overcome" in the distance. These pics make me happy. Like frozen waffles make Kimora happy. They could get a movie of the week poppin off these pics. "Two sisters from Compton use the game of tennis to go from box braids to breathtaking." Its a story of survival and uplift, people!

Dita killing Paris softly

Dita Von Teese, legendary burlesque diva, was seen on the streets of Paris recently looking too fierce for words! Everything is working: the retro houndstooth dress, the ultra-cinched waist, the peep-toe stilettos, the quilted clutch, the oversized watch, the red lips and nails, the black as night hair on the pale as death skin. Dita, your look is to die for!

Fab Look of the Day

Halle Berry gets her maternal glow on while doing a photo shoot in Miami. I'm loving this bohemian, Mother Earth look for her: the cascading silk of her colorblocked dress, the wooden bangles and huge hoops, the natural makeup and flowing hair. She looks truly happy and relaxed which always equals gorgeous. This look almost gives me pregnancy pangs...almost.

Fab Look of the Day

Alicia love, you are my lesbo-licious dream come true. How you doin? Awright! Kidding! (not really) But I digress. Here she is on TRL yesterday afternoon looking just so fresh and natural it's disgusting. She is absolutely glowing with gorgeousness. Not to mention, she is squarely on trend with her retro denim wideleg jumpsuit with gold accents. Oh so hood fab!

Fab Look of the Day

Ash at the Hampton Social this past weekend

Call me crazy but I LOVE Ashley Olsen's look here. I'll admit my immediate reaction to the shoe boots was to cringe, but upon further inspection they really work with the entire ensemble. I do love a fashion risktaker. Beyond the shoes, the jacket, the leather corset belt, and the slouchy skirt look fabulously chic together. Snaps and claps for Miss Ash!

Fab Look of the Day

No one does glamour quite like La Diva Latina! Here she is at the New York premiere of her new film, El Cantante. Yes, this is her standard per usual one-shoulder silouhette that we've already seen this week (see below) but hey, she knows what works for her. I'm loving the color and the drape. Really, she could have on a burlap sack and I would say it was fire. Viva!

Looking fabulicious at the premiere of El Cantante in Puerto Rico

Sienna Miller is simply stunning in this red feather duster gown at a dinner for Valentino in Rome, Italy on Saturday. Her upswept hair and simple red lip complete the seemingly effortless look. Fab!

Fab Look of the Day

Yes, its official, our girl Yonce reads Inawordfab. Per my advice, she has stolen Jenny Lo Lo's look but has managed to put her own ultra-fab spin on it. I just love how her entire ensemble is screaming "Divalicious Hood Chick on European Vacay." So perfectly stylish.
In other news, Jay-Z is still not impressed. Better luck next time, B!
